Battery Replacement

A battery rarely warns you politely. It cranks a little slower for a week, then one morning it does nothing at all, usually on the coldest day or the day you are already late. Because we are mobile, a flat battery is one of the few faults we can often finish in a single visit at the roadside.

We test the battery under load rather than just reading its voltage, because a battery can show twelve volts and still be unable to turn an engine. We also check the charging system, since a battery that has failed early is often a symptom of an alternator that is not keeping up, and replacing the battery alone would leave you stranded again a fortnight later.
